For our third Designer’s Corner, we took some time to speak with the handsome partner Scott Triana and the Dapper Vigilante team about their brand and what it means to be dapper. Dapper Vigilante’s brand has been incredibly popular with young to middle-aged men, and continue to help individuals accessorize to create their “ideal” look. Let’s begin!
CAN YOU TELL US A BIT MORE ABOUT YOUR BRAND, WHAT’S DAPPER VIGILANTE’S STORY AND MEANING? HOW DID DAPPER VIGILANTE START, AND HOW IS YOUR BRAND DIFFERENT?
Dapper Vigilante is the love child born from sleepless nights and loose conversations. We are bowtie wearing, beard growing, whiskey drinking gentlemen striving to bring a level of sophistication to one’s daily pursuit of dapperness.
I SEE, HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CREATIVE PROCESS FOR DAPPER VIGILANTE?
The path to a new product is not easy, and it is most certainly fraught with tests and challenges. We often start the creative process with a few coffees or stiff drinks, or sometimes both. We draw inspiration from our travels, the alleys of Melbourne, the ocean, the arts; really anything we come in contact with that we appreciate and that makes us think.
YOUR CREATIVE JOURNEY SEEMS A TON OF FUN! CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR AUDIENCE, AND WHY THEY LOVE YOUR DESIGNS?
Our brand Ambassador Jordan Mixson says it best.
“A dapper vigilante is very independent in the pursuit of his own style. He dresses with a distinct point of view while also being aware and educated of the classic styles in menswear that never go out of style while still having a modern touch.”
LET’S TALK A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR GENTLEMAN’S BOX OFFERING. HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM ALL THE SUBSCRIPTION BOXES OUT THERE?
We have many customers asking for recommendations on what accessories to pair with one another. It was this frequent question that inspired us to take some of the guess work out of what compliments each other. Unlike subscription based models, there is no ongoing cost and you know exactly what you’re going to get.
INTERESTING! HOW DO YOU LOOK DAPPER EVERYDAY? WHAT ACCESSORIES DO YOU WEAR TO COMPLEMENT AN OTHERWISE CONVENTIONAL MALE OUTFIT?
I try to vary my look and accessories depending on the outfit I’m wearing and the mood I’m in. I’m as comfortable in a shirt and tie as I am in jeans, vintage tee and retro Jordans. My go-to accessory that really can be dressed up or down is the Art rope and anchor bracelet. I rock this nautical inspired bracelet daily but change up the colour combination depending on the outfit of the day.
I LOVE HOW YOU CAN ROCK SO MANY STYLE VARIATIONS! HOW DOES DAPPER VIGILANTE DIFFERENTIATE THEMSELVES FROM THE OTHER BRANDS ALSO FOCUSED ON HELPING MALES BECOME DAPPER?
I feel that a lot of brands have a predetermined image of what dapper is – three piece suit, pocket square with coordinating tie, and perhaps a lapel. While we love donning such an outfit the brands that position that style as the definition of dapper can be difficult to relate to. Our customers range greatly in background, age, and personal style and we applaud individuality and embrace those that are as much vigilantes as they are dapper gentlemen.
LAST QUESTION, CAN YOU TELL US SOMETHING INTERESTING ABOUT THE PARTNERS AND FOUNDERS?
We come from varying backgrounds in business but it was our appreciation for men’s fashion that first sparked our friendship. When we are not working on Dapper Vigilante you are most likely to find us tipping back cocktails in dimly lit establishments across Australia.
Thank you so much for this insightful interview Scott. I think we can all see that Dapper Vigilante prides itself on helping the everyday gentleman discover their true style and personality. With all of the partners and founders living the everyday ‘dapper’ lifestyle, they breath this attitude into their brand. We at BRENMI hope Dapper Vigilante the best, and that you, Scott will continue being a fine dapper gentleman. Keep in touch!
