NAME: JOEY NGUYEN
LOCATION: BAY AREA, CALIFORNIA
Joey Nguyen is a young fashion aficionado currently studying at UC Berkeley. He got into the fashion scene as a way to express his idea of style. He was a skater back in middle school, and from the skater culture transitioned into street fashion. Joey’s minimalistic aesthetic really shows on his Instagram feed. Joey’s current inspirations come from the K-pop scene and European styles. He thinks fashion has given him a unique identity and a way of expression. “Getting into fashion has made me more confident in the sense that I am not afraid to display who I am and what I like,” he says. “I grew up around very judgmental peers, and it was hard for me to express myself. Fashion has been that perfect outlet for me.”
On Men & Fashion
“I wouldn’t say it’s important for men to get “into” fashion, but that it’s important for men to recognize that whatever they decide to put onto their bodies is them making a statement.” Men have all the capability in the world to make a statement by simply choosing to put on a t-shirt, for example, and the beauty of it is that they can say whatever they want.
