The last two articles I’ve written have been about lapels and it’s time for me to talk about more than that. I will be writing a review of Gentleman’s Box June box called ‘Our Favorite Father Figures’. Over the past couple of years monthly men’s accessory boxes have become very popular. While I could name all the companies that I’m aware that are doing this sort of approach I’d probably still forget many. This is both good and bad. The good is that there is a variety of options out there the bad is that the market for this sort of solution is getting saturated…fast.
The general concept of the subscription clubs/boxes are to provide one coordinated men’s accessory look for the month. Typically most are assigned to a theme like Gentleman’s Box which was targeting father’s day. Since this is the first Gentleman’s Box I have received I had no expectations. Below is some pictures on what the packaging and accessories were included.
The ‘Our Favorite Father Figures’ box included: Something Strong Tie, Woodchuck Wooden Tie Clip, Sock Fancy Socks, Harry’s Razor, & La Fresh Sunscreen Wipes. Immediately I was impressed with the packaging and the booklet that came with the box. In the subscription boxes I’ve worked with thus far I’ve not seen something like this before. The booklet itself helped provide me another element of what it means to be a member of Gentleman’s Box. Honestly it felt like family. The booklet shared pictures and stories from their members in addition to their own staff. To me that is unique and also brings a sense of community behind the concept.
For the items inside the June’s box I was most impressed by Harry’s Razor. This happened to be the first box I’ve had where the Razor was top quality (all the others were disposable quality). Not only did you get an awesome Razor but also a 4 free refill razor coupon! For the other remaining items the main thing I look for is color coordination (sometimes boxes provide uncoordinated colors…I have no idea why?!) and the quality of the products. Sock Fancy, Something Strong, & Woodchuck Wooden Tie Clip all checked those boxes nicely. Here is how I coordinated the box and put a look together.
Hard to believe we are at the half way point already this week. Here’s today’s look…I’m trying work on earth tones. Let me know what you think. Overall, my lasting impression of Gentleman’s Box is that when you are a member…you are part of a community that cares. I believe because of this approach they will be very successful if they continue this and will survive the very competitive market. You can find more information about their current and future boxes here:
